Feel Better with a Tan

Gaining a natural tan in the sun has additional medical benefits as well as the psychological ones, like the absorption of vitamin D which is required for healthy bones, and some research is now also claiming that it might have a beneficial influence for certain other major cancers*

Here at SUNKISSED we love the sun and we endorse the natural tan you get in the sun - gaining a natural tan in the sun has additional medical benefits as well as the psychological ones, like the absorption of vitamin D which is required for healthy bones, and some research is now also claiming that it might have a beneficial influence for certain other major cancers*

However, there are a number of facts we think you need to be aware of if you are going to be basking in it!

Facts*

  • The sun is the main source of Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR), which is the main preventable cause of skin cancer
  • The sun is the cause of 90% of skin cancer in people with white skin
  • Recent research analysis concluded that the use of sunbeds increases the risk of skin cancer, especially when used before the age of 35
  • Skin cancer is most strongly linked to occasional exposure to high-intensity sunlight that often results in sunburn
  • A history of sunburn doubles the risk of skin cancer

Here are our recommendations to being sun savvy:

  • DO wear sunscreen - the higher the better, but don't start below SPF20
  • DO apply your sunscreen 25minutes before going into the sun to give the active ingredients time to start working. We find it easiest to apply before getting dressed so you don't miss the sensitive areas around your bikini lines
  • DON'T sit in direct sunlight at the hottest time of the day between 12-4pm, the Spanish invented the siesta for a reason you know!
  • DO take your SUNKISSED self-tan with you. Apply it in the evenings for an instant bronzed enhancement to your developing natural tan
  • DON'T let yourself burn – Lobster is not a good look! If your skin starts to get hot, take a break – cool down in the pool and then go and glam it up at the bar with a refreshing fruity mocktail**!
